The Future Is Orange
John Woodman
A novel development in Anchorsholme (or is it Cleveleys?) involves repainting bus stops and giving them a bright orange makeover. Serving the 9 3 and 4 bus services the stops have had the poles painted a bright orange. According to a local resident (Valerie) who had spoken with the workmen repainting the poles opposite her home, the intention is to 'brighten up the area'. Perhaps Councillor Galley may have played a role in this particular endeavour?
In case other minds have a change of heart your intrepid write journeyed north today to record this unusual paint job. In the good old days Blackpool's bus stop (and tram poles) were all painted regulation Corporation green, while the bus stop poles had a neat finial (wooden) affixed at the top to prevent rain ingress.

While we are on the subject - a more pressing paint job is needed on the tram overhead poles from Bispham to Cleveleys. The original manufacturer's coating is wearing badly on the seaward facing side with consequent rundown appearance on just about every pole, some more badly than others.
