Church Street Curve - 1960
John Woodman
Not your usual view of Church Street as a Marton rail coach rounds the curve from Abingdon Street in front of St John's Church off camera to the right and the Opera House frontage in view on the left - apparently taking delivery of milk from the van parked in front. A neat women's fashion shop frontage is on the corner building behind the tram - in the days when Blackpool town centre was a popular retail destination. A delivery is also taking place from the back of the saloon car on the right hand side - something which would catch the immediate attention of traffic enforcement today. The bright sunshine and warmth has resulted in the driver's cab windscreen window being elevated to its full height. Photo : John Woodman
